Canada Student Direct Stream (SDS) Program For Pakistani Students

Apply For Canadian Study Visa (Apply Now)

Pakistanis can now apply for Canada’s Student Visa with eased rules – Canada Student Visa in 20 Days via Student Direct Stream (SDS).

Good news for all Pakistani students who are willing to study in Canada for their higher education! Canada has included Pakistan in the Student Direct Stream (SDS) Program. With the SDS program, Pakistani students are now eligible for a fast-track application process, similar to other countries previously included in the SDS policy.

Canada’s reputation as a premier destination for students seeking a high-quality international education is further enhanced when we offer fast and reliable application processing. The Student Direct Stream (SDS) is now open to study permit applicants residing in Pakistan. SDS applications necessitate prospective students to provide more comprehensive upfront information to officials. This includes meeting language test requirements in either English or French and supplying additional financial information to demonstrate their ability to support their education. By providing this additional information, officials can expedite the application processing.

The Student Direct Stream was introduced in 2018 as an alternative for study permit applicants from China, India, the Philippines, and Vietnam. In these countries, the majority of SDS applications are typically processed in under three weeks.

The expansion of SDS aligns with the Government’s objective of attracting students from a broader array of nations, promoting diversity in the student population.

Many international students who successfully complete a program in Canada often become eligible for a post-graduation work permit. Having received a Canadian education and gained valuable skilled work experience within the country, former international students are in a favorable position when it comes to applying for permanent residence through avenues such as Express Entry, the Provincial Nominee Program, or the Atlantic Immigration Pilot.

Indeed, in 2018, nearly 54,000 former students made the transition to permanent residence, marking an all-time high.

IRCC announces updated score requirements for English Language tests under the Student Direct Stream (SDS).

The eagerly awaited modifications to the English language test requirements by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for the Student Direct Stream (SDS) study permit were implemented on August 10, 2023. Here’s a summary of the SDS changes and their impact on IELTS test takers:

  1. For applications submitted after August 10, 2023, a minimum overall band score of 6.0 on IELTS Academic is now sufficient.
  2. If you applied with IELTS Academic before August 10, 2023, a score of 6.0 is required in each skill.
  3. Applying with IELTS General Training requires a score of 6.0 in each skill, both before and after August 10, 2023.

Additionally, applicants can submit SDS applications using IELTS Academic or General Training test scores up to 2 years old. This means that scores obtained before August 10, 2023, are still valid for SDS applications after the changes took effect. For more information on how to utilize your test score for SDS applications, refer to the article “IELTS Academic Score Requirements Changes for SDS Applicants.”

In a noteworthy update, the IRCC now accepts TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, and CAEL as valid proof of language proficiency for SDS applications. Further details on these changes can be found in the IRCC announcement regarding SDS.
